Blue, Parahyba Provisional (Unlisted). Choice centering, rich color,
bold overprint, tied by neat strike of "Syndicato Condor Ltda., Parahyba,
Servicio Aereo No Brasil, 30 Mai 1930" double-circle datestamp on picture
post card depicting a public plaza, to Principality of Monaco, other side
of post card bears 500r stamp similarly tied and with cachet,
Friedrichschafen receiving datestampVERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE PARAHYBA PROVISIONAL STAMP USED FROM PARAHYBA. ONLY FIVE ARE KNOWN USED ON ZEPPELIN MAIL. ONE OF THE GREAT RARITIES OF AIR POST PHILATELY.
At Parahyba, the supply of 5,000r stamps had been exhausted. The local post office authorized the overprinting of thirteen of the 20,000r stamps on hand. Some were sold at Parahyba, and some were sold at Recife. Only five examples used on Zeppelin mail are known. One of the others, used from Recife, is offered in the following lot.
