Charles A. Lindbergh.
Signature in black on back of Series 1935A $1.00 bill with signatures of
ten other members of the flight crew, obtained by Fred Diebel, a serviceman
in the South Pacific, Diebel wrote in the outer margins "Guadalcanal to
Tarawa to Pearl to San Francisco - 30 August 1944/Short Snorter (slang
for a dollar bill used in such a fashion)/Fred W. Diebel", bill
extensively creased with one ending in a large tear (clear of signatures)
from being carried thru the war in Diebel's pocket, creases clear of most
signatures, but very lightly creased thru Lindbergh's, otherwise Fine, a
fascinating piece of Lindberghania (Image) |
