Well-centered with beautiful bright color very close to a true Pink,
segmented cork cancel, used on forwarded cover originally franked with
3c Dull Red (26) from Emmittsburgh Pa. with Aug. 17 datestamp,
readdressed to Attorney General William Meredith at Harrisburgh and
postmarked Aug. 19, 1861, the day the new stamps went on sale at
Philadelphia (Public Ledger Aug. 20, 1861), No. 26 with small
nick at left, otherwise Very Fine, a great mixed-issue usage and the
earliest known use of the 3c 1861 out of Philadelphia, ex Amonette, with
