3c Red, F. Grill (94).
Original gum, sharp grill points, beautiful color, gargantuan margins all
aroundEXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING STAMP. TO THE BEST OF KNOWLEDGE, THIS IS THE FINEST ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 3-CENT F GRILL EXTANT. For a stamp within a sheet to be perforated with double-size margins on all four sides, all of the surrounding stamps had to be severely off center. Our guess is that this stamp comes from a corner position. With 1988 P.F. certificate (Image) |

5c Brown, F. Grill (95). Mint
N.H., clearly-defined grill, rich colorVERY FINE. A RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 5-CENT F GRILL. Only a few 5c F Grill stamps exist in sound Mint Never-Hinged condition, and they were harvested from blocks broken up during the past five to ten years. Many of the stamps from these broken blocks have scuffs -- this one does not. With 2001 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as hinged (Image) |

5c Brown, F. Grill (95).
Block of four, original gum, clear grill points on every stamp, crisp color
and impressionEXTREMELY FINE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM BLOCK OF FOUR OF THE 1868 5-CENT F GRILL. ONE OF THE LAST BLOCKS TO SURVIVE IN SUCH WONDERFUL CONDITION. Original-gum singles and blocks of the 5c F Grill tend to be in rather poor condition, either in terms of centering, color or overall condition. The block offered here should be considered a condition rarity. It is increasingly unlikely that any other well-centered blocks will survive the demand for singles. (Image) |
