Original gum, beautiful bright color, tiny sealed perf tear at top right is

Unused (no gum), near perfect centering with wide margins, vivid color and
bright yellowish shade, new P.F. certificate states "sealed tears at bottom
and top right, pulled perforation at bottom, and slightly stained" (see
notes below)EXTREMELY FINE APPEARING EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 5-CENT BROWN YELLOW. ONE OF THE RAREST CLASSIC STAMPS IN UNUSED CONDITION.
This stamp was brought to us still adhering to a 19th century stamp album page. It was obviously acquired as a new issue and glued into the album, along with two other low-value 1861's and the typical variety of classics soaked off mail. Since the P.F. certificate was issued, some mount residue ("stained") has been washed off in warm water.
