EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF THE 50-CENT BRIGHT CLARET POSTAGE DUE IN THE FINEST CONDITION ATTAINABLE..

To illustrate the rarity of this stamp in well-centered Never-Hinged condition, the Zoellner collection's J28 (ex Clifford Cole) was hinged. Years of searching failed to turn up a copy containing the necessary requirements of superior centering and color combined with gum. The stamp offered here is truly remarkable.

With 1990 and 1999 P.F. certificate. Scott Retail as hinged (Image)

312 nh image2c Vermilion (J30). Mint N.H., vibrant color on bright white paper

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A SCARCE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT VERMILION 1894 POSTAGE DUE ISSUE.

At the time the Bureau of Engraving and Printing issued this stamp they were struggling with problems with adequately perforating the stamps. That makes this issue, as well as the regular issues (Scott 246-263), often difficult to find in such choice condition. This stamp should be considered a condition rarity.

With 1995 and 2000 P.F. certificates. (Image)
