10c Green, Ty. III (15).
Original gum in Mint N.H. state, huge top and bottom margins, full
even margins at sides, fresh and bright color, sharp proof-like
impressionEXTREMELY FINE. ONE OF THE FEW MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLES OF THE 1855 10-CENT TYPE III IMPERFORATE ISSUE IN EXISTENCE. The stamp offered here was the righthand stamp in the strip of three from which lot 206 was also removed. The single hinge was applied to the center of the strip and did not touch this stamp. The gum is pristine and Mint Never Hinged. As collectors who limit themselves only to Mint N.H. stamps know only too well, very few classics exist in such state. The few truly Mint N.H. 1847-56 imperforate stamps come from multiples in which some stamps were spared from the hinge. With copy of 1978 P.F. certificate for horizontal strip of three. 10c Green, Ty. III (15).
Original gum, lightly hinged, huge and even margins all around, fresh and
bright color, sharp proof-like impressionEXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN OUTSTANDING ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1855 10-CENT TYPE III IMPERFORATE STAMP. The 1855 10c stamps that have survived with original gum generally come from blocks and strips broken in recent years. Only a few exist without faults, and even fewer make the grade of Extremely Fine. The stamp offered here, which was cut from a strip of three, is one of the finest original-gum examples of Type III we have ever encountered. With copy of 1978 P.F. certificate for horizontal strip of three, this being the center stamp (Image) |
