2075 c image5c Brick Red (27). Two singles arranged as a pair, bright shade and fresh color, cancelled by bold strikes of "Paid" handstamps, perfectly clear "Tiffin Ohio Mar. 29, 1860" circular datestamp on buff cover to Spanish Flat Cal., endorsed "Overland via St. Louis"

EXTREMELY FINE. A CHOICE AND VERY SCARCE DOMESTIC USE OF THE 5-CENT BRICK RED.

The vast majority of 5c Brick Red covers are addressed to France or other foreign countries. Domestic covers are scarce, and this superb transcontinental usage is among the finest known.

A VERY FINE STRIP AND COVER. NO STRIP LARGER THAN SIX IS RECORDED ON COVER, AND THIS COVER IS THE FINEST OF THE FEW KNOWN 5-CENT 1857 MULTIPLE USAGES.

VERY FINE. THE LARGEST RECORDED BLOCK OF THE RARE INDIAN RED SHADE KNOWN ON OR OFF COVER. ONLY ONE OTHER BLOCK, USED OFF COVER, IS RECORDED. ONE OF THE GREATEST COVERS OF THE PERFORATED TOPPAN, CARPENTER ISSUES IN EXISTENCE.

Our Levi records of the 5c 1857 contain numerous covers with strips in all shades, but only the strip on this cover shows any part of the imprint.
