Plate 11, original gum, barely hinged, fresh and bright color, design clear
on both sides, showing wide break at top and complete line at bottom (the
defining characteristics of the type)VERY FINE AND CHOICE. RARELY DOES THE TYPE IIIA FROM PLATE 4 SHOW ALL OF THE DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TYPE.
The layout of Plate 11 left little room for perforations. Most examples of Type IIIa from this plate are poorly centered, especially top-to-bottom. The example offered here, showing clear and unmistakable characteristics of the type, is a condition rarity.
