Well-struck "Liverpool My. 18 61" circular datestamp on folded letter and printed cotton circular to Richmond Va., routed "p America via Cork", "19 Cents" handstamp, bold "Br. Packet Boston 1 Jun. 24" debit datestamp, bold Dead Letter Office P.O. Dept. No. July 29, 1861" oval datestamp on back, blue "Due 3" in circle, matching "Baltimore Md. Jul. 30" backstamp, minor aging and splits along folds, still Very Fine, rare transatlantic stopped due to suspension of mail service -- very desirable with the Boston exchange office marking dated June 1, the first day of Confederate postal service (Image) E. 500-750 1,400.00
