EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF THE 6-CENT 1869 RE-ISSUE IN USED CONDITION.

The 6c is the third rarest of the set in used condition (after the 3c and 12c). This stamp, which would be highly regarded even as a regular issue, is quite possibly the finest used 6c Re-Issue extant.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. PROBABLY THE FINEST USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1869 RE-ISSUE IN EXISTENCE.

The 12c 1869 Pictorial Re-issue is the second rarest of the set in used condition. The Zoellner collection, sold by our firm in 1998, contained a used example with a small fault. Rose estimates 15-20 exist used--we doubt more than six are sound and well-centered.

523 image12c Green, Re-Issue (128). Extra wide margins, New York duplex cancel, rich color and proof-like impression

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE STAMP IN THIS SOUND USED CONDITION.

As noted in the previous lot, the 12c 1869 Pictorial Re-issue is the second rarest of the set in used condition. Of the estimated 15 to 20 that exist used, we doubt more than six are sound and well-centered.
