"Rome" cancel, not tied, used on folded cover with Rome Jul. 18, 1844 dateline still intact, one interior panel removed, file folds, Very Fine, the only recorded Rome N.Y. cancellation on a Pomeroy's stamp, from the Albany Comptroller correspondence (Image) E. 400-500
  1427 imagePomeroy's Letter Express, 5c Black on Yellow (117L1). Ample to large margins, slight oxidation, tied by ms. "C" cancel applied by Rochester agent, Daniel Hoyt (operator of Hoyt's Letter Express, see lot 1189), on folded letter to Albany datelined Rochester, Aug. 7, 1844, Very Fine, ex Knapp (Image) E. 400-500
  1428 imagePomeroy's Letter Express, 5c Blue on Thin Bond (117L3). Horizontal pair, huge margins to clear at bottom right, slight corner crease at bottom left, ms. "X" cancels, tied by bleed-thru from address at lower left on July 1844 folded letter from Rochester to Boston, a son writing to his father, talking about July 4th fireworks and asking for an extra 25 cents to buy a better fishing pole, fresh and Very Fine, no more than five pairs of Pomeroy's Blue stamp on cover are reported (source: Frajola, personal correspondence), ex Malcolm (Image) E. 1,000-1,500

Ample margins to just touching, tied by ms. cancel, matching "Collect 6" due notation applied by Wells' Letter Express on folded cover to Detroit Mich., docketing indicates Aug. 14, 1844 origin, from the Hall correspondence (see Overton lot 1404), small stain at top, file folds, Very Fine and extremely rare Pomeroy/Wells usage (Image) E. 750-1,000
  1430 imagePomeroy's Letter Express, 5c Lake on Thin Bond (117L6). Large to huge margins, tied by ms. "X" on Aug. 13, 1844 folded letter from New York City to Mohawk N.Y., filing crease thru stamp, otherwise Very Fine (Image) E. 300-400
  1431 Pomeroy's Letter Express, 5c Black on Yellow, Blue on Thin Bond (117L1, 117L3). Each used on folded letter, none tied, ms. cancels include "W" and "WCS", stains and faults, scarce group E. 200-300
  1432 Pomeroy's Letter Express, Stampless Covers. Two different markings, red "Forwarded by Pomeroy & Co.'s Express from Utica N.Y." circle on Feb. 1844 folded letter, and red "Pomeroy & Co.'s Express" with part circle at sides and Collect box on Jul. 1844 folded letter to Buffalo, Very Fine, ex Abt E. 150-200
