  136 Baltimore Md., 1c Red (1LB9). Mostly huge margins, close at one corner, tied by pencil "M" carrier's initial, used with 3c Dull Red (26), both stamps tied by blurry blue "Baltimore Md. Jul. 11" circular datestamp on small cover to Philadelphia, carrier stamp slightly toned, otherwise Very Fine, ex Kelly and illustrated in his CCP series (Vol. 52, No. 1, p. 38) E. 150-200
  137 Baltimore Md. Carriers' Initials on Horse & Rider Issue. Five covers and one off-cover stamp, includes two combinations with 3c Dull Red (26), both tied, initials "G", "W" (two covers and one stamp), "H" and a scribble ("M"?), the "G" cover has tears, others Fine-Very Fine, ex Kelly E. 500-750

  139 Baltimore Md., 1c Black (1LB8). Large margins except just in at top left, tied by blue "Baltimore Md. Feb. 14" circular datestamp, matching "1" in circle on 1862 printed bank notice to local address, sealed tear across face of cover, still exhibitable, the latest recorded use of the Horse & Rider carrier stamp, also a rare drop-rate/carrier combination cover, ex Straus, illustrated in Kelly CCP series (Vol. 51, No. 4, p.211) E. 300-400

Two, one is Position 4 with corner defect variety at lower right, both have large to huge margins, pencil or pen cancelled, not tied, used on separate Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Treasury Dept. (Camden Station) corner card covers to the same Baltimore street address, one with enclosure dated Mar. 9, 1861, Extremely Fine pair, ex Kelly E. 200-300
  148 Baltimore Md., 1c Red (1LB9). Full even margins, deep shade, faint pencil cancel, used with 3c Dull Red (26), both stamps tied by blue "Baltimore Md. Oct. 28" circular datestamp on small cover to Cameron Md., small scrapes in cover and slightly reduced at right, still Very Fine, attractive tied combination E. 150-200
  149 Baltimore Md., 1c Black, Red (1LB8, 1LB9). Pair of covers, one with Black, other with Red, large margins to just touching, each used with 3c Dull Red (26), stamps tied on small white covers by blue "Baltimore Md." circular datestamp, the Black shows plate variety (rectangle below horse's tail), Fine pair, ex Kelly E. 200-300
  150 Baltimore Md., 1c Red, Short Rays (1LB9b). Position 2, large margins except close at top left, tiny tear at right, pencil cancel (not tied), used on 3c Red Nesbitt entire to Georgetown D.C., blue "Baltimore Md. Nov. 17" circular datestamp, Very Fine cover E. 100-150
  151 Baltimore Md., 1857-63 Horse & Rider Issue, Balance of Covers. 18 covers -- 11 Black and 7 Red -- including 10 in combination with 3c Dull Red (26) and 2 on 3c Red Nesbitt entires, 10 are tied, all appear properly used, several interesting plate varieties ("SENT" and Short Rays) and cancellations, some covers and stamps have faults, most are Fine, attractive and exhibitable, several pages from the Kelly and Abt collections -- combining this group with the stamps offered in lot 127, a collector could begin a fascinating study of the Baltimore Horse & Rider issues -- Scott value exceeds $2,000.00 E. 1,000-1,500
