Mostly large margins, touched at bottom right, pencil cancel, tied by "Boyd's City Express Post" oval handstamp with slugs in place of date, "Collect/1 Cent." two-line handstamp on small cover to New York City street address, couple small stain spots at upper right clear of stamp, ms. "1863" at lower left, the Boyd's rate for city delivery was 2c, therefore it is possible that a Boyd's 1c stamp was affixed at upper right and removed, Very Fine, ex Emerson, Knapp (Image) E. 400-500

Large margins to just touching, pencil cancel, used with 3c Rose (65), both stamps tied by large segmented cork with "Brooklyn N.Y. Apr. 18, 1864" double-circle datestamp on cover to Peekskill N.Y., Very Fine (Image) E. 400-500

Huge margins all around, tied by red "Paid" straightline with matching partly clear "Brooklyn City Express Post" oval handstamp, used with Boyd's City Express, 2c Black on Green (20L8), three huge margins, in at top, black cancel (not tied), pencil "Paid 3 Cents" at lower left, Very Fine, colorful and rare combination for Boyd's pick-up and Brooklyn City Express delivery, ex Hollowbush (Image) E. 2,000-3,000
A 827 imageBrooklyn City Express Post, Brooklyn N.Y., 2c Black on Dark Blue (28L5). Large margins to just touching at right, black cancel, just tied, "Brooklyn N-Y. Jan. 27" circular datestamp on cover to Hanover, Germany, via Ocean Line steamship Washington, scarce "N. York U.S. Pkt. 9 Jan. 28" debit datestamp and "30" in circle, red "3-2/3 ggr/AMERICA/UBER BREMEN" two-line handstamp, red crayon rates for division of postage, sender's routing "pr U.S.M. Steamer Washington", arrived in time for Jan. 28, 1854 sailing of the Washington, which arrived in Bremerhaven on Feb. 13 (Hubbard and Winter, North Atlantic Mail Sailings 1840-75, p. 88), small multicolored patriotic seal on flap, Very Fine, an outstanding and probably unique use of the Brooklyn City Express stamp on an Ocean Line cover to Germany (which is scarce itself) (Image) E. 2,000-3,000
