Post, Apr. 22 -- O'C. Red oval datestamp clearly struck on 1845 folded
notice of legal judgment to the Clerk of Kings County, Brooklyn, 2c
Black on Bluish Green (20L3), large even margins, uncancelled, used in
correct time period and appears to have originated, file fold, Very Fine,
extremely rare -- Boyd's operated in Brooklyn from September 1844 through
June 1845, but the July 1st postal reforms that closed post roads to
private carriers ended Boyd's open involvement in servicing Brooklyn -- ex

Post, Sep. 12 9 O'C. Red oval datestamp on Sep. 9, 1844 folded letter
from Freehold to New York City street address, file folds, earliest use
of Boyd's Brooklyn City Express Post recorded by Abt, accompanied by a
second folded letter, docketed Sep. 12, 1844, with a weak strike of red
oval, Fine and extremely rare (Image) |

Post, Sep. 24 9 O'C. Light but readable strike of red oval datestamp on
folded letter datelined Philadelphia, Sep. 23, 1844, to Brooklyn and
delivered by Boyd's, red sans-serif "PAID" straightline handstamp
unlike any marking used by Boyd's but identical to the American Letter
Mail Co. "Paid" used by their Philadelphia office in this period --
therefore, this is a conjunctive usage carried by American Letter Mail in
Philadelphia to Boyd's in Brooklyn, at a very early stage of the latter's
service in Brooklyn -- Very Fine, possibly unique
