brilliant color with bright orange hue and smooth coated surface, tied by
"Paid" in circle, purple "Boyd's City Dispatch, 1 Park Place, Jul. 13
(1878)" oval datestamp on embossed corner card cover to local street
address, Extremely Fine, the Orange Red is the rarest of the
regularly-issued Mercury series and was used briefly in July and early
August 1878 -- see John D. Bowman's article in The Penny Post, Apr.
1995 (this is one of the three covers he records) -- ex Col. Green,

cover slightly creased, one bend thru stamp causing wrinkles, still
Extremely Fine, the rarest of the regularly-issued Mercury stamps, probably
fewer than a half-dozen covers exist, this is not one of the three covers
recorded by Bowman in his Penny Post article (Apr. 1995), but it
