Our records indicate that many of the surviving Scott 192 stamps are not sound (more than half) . Of the four or five centered (Extremely Fine) stamps, only one is sound, perhaps six or seven Very FIne sound stamps exist. Therefore, the collector who wishes to acquire a sound 1c American Special Printing is well-advised to bid aggressively for this stamp.

Our revised census of the 4c 1883 Special Printing contains 26 stamps offered as No. 211D, of which 25 have been certified by The Philatelic Foundation (see Zoellner sale, Appendix, p. 381, eliminate duplicate entry 211D-UNC-27). Post Office Department records indicate that only 26 were sold.
